The spirit of this Festival is to HAVE FUN and to benefit entirely from our immense cultural and artistic capital, to the rhythm of dance and music. We do not ask the public to be inactive by sitting quietly all day, listening to purely theoretical lectures. We would invite festival-goers to be true actors of this Festival, by:
This Festival will take place at several landmarks of Paris: *The Mayor of Paris' City Hall for the opening ceremony *Silvia Monfort Theatre for the dance performances *« La Loco » for dancing all night along with the Deaf performers *Palais Brongniart for our Exposition of « International Accessibility of the Deaf » *Restaurant « Relias du bois de Boulogne » for the closing night dinner-gala with deaf entertainers The other highlight of this Festival is to promote the qualities and artistic talents of deaf dancers and musicians, who are too often put aside or ignored by the general public, by the Deaf as well as the hearing. It will be a great opportunity for the troupes to finally be recognized by all, and to prove themselves in the fullest by their rare and special performances as artists, of which they are proud. Come and take part in this great experience with us by sharing your talent, your experience, or simply your good humor, as you fulfill the pleasure of the eyes!
In creating the name of the "Festival of Silence" my goal was, and still is, to increase the possibilities for exchange between the Deaf and hearing worlds, through the organisation of various activities, day and night, from July 5 to 8, 2006. And, in so doing, share our pride in being deaf!
