Association " ChanDanse des Sourds " (CDS) Founded and declared on September 27th, 2000, in Paris, « ChanDanse des Sourds » is the only association in France to offer classes and training in dance, visual music (percussion) and "Chansigne" for the deaf public. There is also a « ChanDanse » troupe which organizes tours in France and abroad. All members of the association, except the secretaries and webmaster, are deaf. First International Deaf Dance and Music Festival « Festival of Silence » « Festival of Silence » This « Festival of Silence » has its objective to bring to the general public the discovery of deaf professional troupes of dancers and musicians from different countries. The « Festival of Silence » will present numerous evening performances, an « International Accessibility » exposition during the day on Saturday and workshops all with the same intention: sharing and understanding of our pride in the deaf culture for the hearing world. For 3 evenings at Silvia Monfort Theatre in Paris, the « Festival of Silence » will present 6 performances of deaf professional dance and visual music (percussionists, deaf guitarists and song-signers) companies from China, England, France, Russia and the United States. The « International Accessibility » Exposition will focus on the high tech, artistic and socio-cultural accessibility of the deaf. The main motivation of this first international exposition: « Exposition of Silence » is to give the same chance of equality, freedom, self-independence and responsibility for the deaf and hard of hearing in France and Europe. It is also a question of drawing the attention of visitors, decision-makers and employers to the role of new technologies existing in the area of information and communication nowadays. Short performances of dance, music and song-sign troupes from Bulgaria, Latvia, Morocco, the Ile de la Réunion, Ukraine, etc, will be presented the whole day. Two days of workshops, in partnership with the Association Micadanses, intend to encourage exchange between the invited deaf choreographers and the French and foreign public. These workshops will be for the international public to share and experience the work of the deaf choreographers. Two days of guided tours - in French and international sign language - by professional deaf guides in Paris (for example : tour at the Opera). An evening of dancing all night long at the night club "La Loco" (as in locomotive) with the entertainment of dance troupes from Finland, Germany, Hawaii, Italy and the United States. The Dinner-Gala at the restaurant « Le Relais du bois de Boulogne » will close this Festival. Entertainment of 5 troupes from Finland, Germany, Hawaii, Italy, and Japan. |
